Nanowrimo

Tonight is one of the most exciting days of the year. People all across the globe are gearing up for tonight. Because tonight, at midnight, is the start of Nanowrimo

I really hope you didn’t mean Halloween, although I do suppose some people find excitement in that.

But, for the writers, November is the time where we shine as we disappear with pen and paper, or behind a keyboard and start writing away. The goal is 50k words in one month. That’s over 1500 words a day and roughly the size of a novel.

I’m excitedly waiting until I can start typing out the story that’s been stuck in my head. While no writing before midnight is allowed, planning is! So, I’ve cast my characters and made my playlist.

Nanowrimo 2012 Cast of Characters

Candice Accola playing Emily

Weekend Wrapup

So this is one day later than I wanted it to be. But, last night I was having dinner with a good friend and I keep having to remind myself that people ARE more important than writing.

Friday night I had a girls night with a couple of coworkers. We got together, had some drinks and did some painting. It was “your choice” of Halloween pics. I think we did pretty dang well

This was literally so much fun and I’m already stalking the next month’s calendar to see if there are any I want to do.

Saturday, after girl’s night, I had to wake up SUPER early. Stand around in the freezing cold and wait for Joseph to do this

That would be Joseph as he approaches the finish line of his FIRST HALF MARATHON EVER. He finished with a ridiculously respectable time of 2:34 and ran the whole way. I was super proud wifey.

Sunday, Falcon’s won. ‘Nuff Said.

And for a super fun announcement, I’ve finished all my schoolwork for my first class! So far I have a 98% but my main paper and a couple of discussion postings have yet to be graded. Either way, it’s a high enough average that I won’t be flunked out!

Three Things Thursday

I’ve been busy, busy, busy this week between work, school and hanging out with one of my most favoritest people. (And yes, I realize that favoritest isn’t really a word) So, in lieu of the fact that tomorrow I’ll be chilling with some awesome ladies, I present a shortened but still awesome list of things from around the internets

1. This has been making it’s way around the internet, a gallery of marines before/during/after service

2. As with everyone else in the world, Joseph and I have gotten sucked into The Walking Dead. And I know who I’m going to husband if I’m ever in a zombie apocalypse

3. And because I do have a love for Harry Potter/Ron Weasley/Rupert Grint

Romance

Alright guys, I’m about to take a stance on something here. Not everyone may agree with me, but that’s fine. This is my blog and I can do what I want after all… just kidding, really differing opinions are okay, good even.

Women, as a generalization, want to be romanced. Time and again the thing I see women complain about most is not being romanced. In the long run, we’re not asking for much, it doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive. Budget romance is okay.

But when we ask for romance, what we are asking for is really:

Thought

Consideration

Effort

We want you to spend time thinking about us

We want you to consider our likes and dislikes and not just offer up the same old same old.

We want you to put in effort so that we know we’re worth your effort.

Mostly though, we don’t want to have to tell you we want to be romanced.  I know, I know, guys aren’t mind-readers and it isn’t fair to expect them to be. So I’m letting you know, this is probably what the woman in your life wants but saying “hey romance me” makes it less special.

We want to be surprised by a bouquet of flowers, a surprise lunch date, a card on our pillow, having dinner made for us or being whisked off to dinner when we don’t have to decide the place, sweep the kitchen floor so we don’t have too…

Heck the last peanut butter cup in our lunch bag is awesome under the right circumstances.

So, this is me, telling your right now to romance your lady today. The possible rewards from having a wife (or girlfriend, I’m an equal relationship opportunist) that feels thought of, loved and like she’s worth the effort are endless.

Student Discount, Yes Please!

So, according to my friend Larry there is some news I’ve not shared with you fine, wonderful people. (I swear I’ve mentioned it in passing at least!!)

It’s been over four years since I’ve been in school, but as of 10/2, I’m a college gal, again.

I’m doing online classes through the same school I previously attended. The format they use is one that I enjoy a great deal because I only have to focus on one class at a time but class turnaround is quick. Every 5 weeks I complete a class. Considering my favorite part of homeschooling was finishing schoolwork as quickly as possible, this makes me happy.

Typically, there is a lot of writing in these classes. The class I’m currently in consists of a 3 page paper, an 8 page paper and multiple discussion postings with a minimum length of 250 words.

The good news is that not only do I love writing, but I’m actually majoring in English. I mean, yeah, during the day I do accounting and that won’t really further that career at all but who needs those pesky details?

According to my student account, I have an estimated graduation date of 11/4/14, which is just over 2 years from now. Until then, I’ll be bogged down with classes, lots of writing and possibly learning the difference between then and than. (My mother can only hope.)

Basically in two years I’ll be a certified smartie!

Shelter

Listen when
All of this around us’ll fall over
I tell you what we’re gonna do
You will shelter me, my love
And I will shelter you
I will shelter you

Thanks to Joseph, my blog hasn’t been totally silent this week. I’ve felt so unbelievable overwhelmed lately. Last week was a bundle of stress for numerous reasons, all week long. For the past two weeks I’ve felt the pressure on figuring out how to fit school work into my life and still be present in my life. Cooking, cleaning (hah), Joseph time, school work and blogging are all things I’m trying to fit into a few hours each night after I get home and before I go to sleep and it’s a lot to try and fit in, especially when I’m tired and just want to sit down.

On top of that I’ve been dealing with a lot of stuff emotionally that is just hard to deal; snotty nose, fat tears, ugly face cry emotions. For the most part it has all just left me feeling so utterly exhausted and worn out. I want to just crawl in my bed, under my fabulous, heavy comforter and not emerge for a really long time.

I’m trying to keep up a happy face, because no one likes a downer but it’s exhausting. I’m exhausted. I’m not sure if Joseph knew until this weekend the true depth of everything I’m feeling and it was because I didn’t want to put that burden on him and the thought of talking about the things I’m feeling was SO Hard.

I’m thankful for Joseph. He is what every husband should be, a rock to cling to during the storm, a supporter, a provider. He has done more for me in the past few weeks then I would have ever asked, and he’s done it out of nothing but love for me. And I’m so thankful that when I’m having snotty nose, fat tear, ugly face cry that he doesn’t care if I get mascara on his shirt, or snot on him but that he’s there to hold me and tell me that I’m not a horrible person even if that’s how I feel.

I’m not sure what the point of this is, other than to say I’m still here but I’m just trying to figure stuff out.

Tasty Tuesday: Fresh Apples!

It’s been a busy couple weeks for Mrs B; between trying to get in work outs and school and work (REALLY STRESSFUL week at work), I’ve done most of the cooking.  Most of my cooking is really simple stuff like Nuggets or Soup or something on the Grill (I am a MAN after all).   I know Tasty Tuesday is usually her wonderful cooking, but I wanted to talk about something else today that is TASTY!

FRESH APPLES!!!

This weekend we ventured out, with my family and their 9 million kids, to Hillcrest Orchards  in Ellijay, Ga.   They have things there that are great for the kids: Jumping Pillow, Petting Zoo, Pig Races; and things for the Adults too: Live Music, Moonshine museum (which could double as a haunted house), and really what adult doesn’t love Pig Races too.   Also, we didn’t get a chance to try one, but these are the kinds of places that sell GREAT foods like ‘Deep Fried Oreos’ and ‘Deep Fried Moon Pies’

After all of those things to do, the main reason people go are to pick their own fresh apples!

It’s hard to believe that fresh apples can be better than store apples (since I LOVE all apples) but it’s true!  Fresh apples that I picked myself, from the tree are better.  I don’t know if it’s the lack of pesticides used,  or the fact that I had to do all the hard work myself of finding the perfect apple, but either way it is BETTER!

*** Warning ***

If you’re going to an apple orchard, I would like to advise that you go a few weeks before we did, and most likely in the morning before they are busy… while we did have fun there, it was CRAZY busy and a lot of the fresh red apples were already picked.
